Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and experience in curriculum design, development, and assessment preferred. General knowledge of state and federal requirements applicable to career and technical education. Good technology skills. Effective communication skills.
Supervision
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General direction received from the Dean of Business and Information Technology with accountability for results. SUPERVISION GIVEN: Supervise full and part-time personnel within the division. Provide direction for assigned programs and staff.

Job Function
To provide primary administrative management and leadership for the assigned departments within the Division in collaboration with faculty and other divisional administrators consistent with established college and campus policies and procedures. Recommends campus policy and procedure. Collaborates and coordinates operations with other College units, departments and divisions, and curriculum on all campuses in the assigned area. The Associate Dean is expected to exhibit initiative, enthusiasm and teamwork in accomplishing the responsibilities of the position.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the initiation, implementation, control, evaluation, and revision of a broad range of courses, programs, both credit and non-credit.
- Establish objectives, procedures, timelines, and performance criteria for short- and long-range planning.
- Ensure the utilization of diverse, active advisory committees for occupational programs.
- Foster relationships and serves as a liaison with employers, external agencies and stakeholders.
- Select, recommend and evaluate staff according to existing contracts and procedures.
- Encourage and promote in-service training and professional development of faculty and staff.
- Function as the management link between the teachers in the unit and the Dean's office.
- Coordinate the scheduling of faculty, courses, and facilities.
- Implement and administer employee group master agreements.
- Participate periodically in the negotiation of employee group master agreements.
- Provide leadership and support to assigned departments and faculty for program related activities i.e., student organizations, forums, contests.
- Recommend and control budget.
- Encourage and support articulation with K-12, universities, and other educational agencies.
- Assure an interdisciplinary coordination of programs and foster curriculum integration.
- Evaluate program success through follow-up studies of graduates and other data provided by Institutional Research and other measures of student success.
- Serve on College, local, state, and national committees and represent the Dean as appropriate.
- Maintain unit reports and records including appropriate department inventory records.
- Assist in maintenance and security of unit supplies, equipment and facilities.
- Develop and recommend criteria for student placement within the instructional program.
- Assist, where appropriate, in the planning and development of educational specifications for physical facilities for new construction and/or remodeling.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with college policies, procedures, and contracts as well as appropriate state, federal, accreditation, licensure, registration and/or certification requirements.
- Assist with evening and weekend supervision of programs, clerical staff, and faculty.
- Write and administer grants where appropriate.
- Support cooperative education opportunities for students.
- Communicate with internal and external publics.
- Oversee special client-specific instructional projects subject to client contract specifications.
- Foster a climate of student satisfaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
Master's degree. Must meet the requirements for teaching within the assigned department.
Qualifications
Three years' experience in a leadership, managerial or supervisory position required. Teaching experience desired.
