Associate Civil Engineer

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Civil Engineer for the Mine Waste East Team in Florida. This individual would be involved in projects with our US Mine Waste Team and be a part of a growing organization that is uniquely positioned to solve our client's most challenging projects. In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, water resources, and geotechnical projects.

Work within our Mine Waste team on civil, water, and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry

Collect, identify, and compile environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.

Assist with surface water management analysis and facility design

Perform water resources engineering work and assist with related investigations

Assisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates

Assist in engineering tasks such as geotechnical field investigation, site and material characterization, and basic geotechnical and civil design.

Working on domestic and international assignments

Work as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work

Research environmental databases regarding historical property land uses.

Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.

Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).

Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.

Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to prevent, control, restore, clean-up, or address environmental issues or problems.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources or Geotechnical engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or closely related discipline.

1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in relevant fields.

Engineer in Training Certification preferred.

Knowledge of water resource engineering principles practices, processes, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.

Knowledge of Stormwater Management, Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, Floodplain Delineation, etc.

Knowledge of civil and geotechnical design principles

Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.

Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.

Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills require to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.

Ability to work schedules is conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Master's degree in engineering.
