The Associate Analyst – Venture Capital role bridges the gap between traditional Analyst and Associate positions. Professionals in this role take on increased responsibility for deal evaluation, diligence coordination, and portfolio analysis, while continuing to develop core venture investing judgment.
Associate Analysts work closely with Associates, Principals, and Partners, and are expected to contribute meaningfully to investment decisions, sourcing efforts, and portfolio insights.
Proactively source and screen early- and growth-stage investment opportunities
Conduct initial founder calls and summarize key investment considerations
Lead components of due diligence, including market sizing, competitive analysis, and business model assessment
Build and maintain financial models, capitalization tables, and scenario analyses
Draft investment memos and supporting materials for investment committee review
Assist in developing sector theses and thematic research initiatives
Track portfolio company performance and support ongoing portfolio reviews
Monitor venture markets, comparable transactions, and emerging trends
Participate in demo days, pitch meetings, and venture ecosystem events
Support fundraising efforts, LP reporting, and internal investment processes
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, engineering, computer science, or a related analytical discipline
1–3 years of relevant experience in venture capital, investment banking, consulting, private equity, startups, or strategy roles
Strong understanding of startup business models and venture capital fundamentals
Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills relative to entry-level roles
Clear and concise written and verbal communication abilities
High level of intellectual curiosity and ownership mindset
Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with senior investors and founders
