Assisted Lifestyle Services Director - MD

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises designated co-workers to fulfill the operational activities and goals of Assisted Living in providing a high quality standard of care to the residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
2. Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
3. Responsible for maintaining standards for Assisted Living consistent with the overall philosophy and which meet regulatory requirements.
4. Coordinates admissions, discharges and transfers of residents.
5. Coordinates resident visits with other health care providers.
6. Facilitates routine team meetings to ensure continuity of care for all shifts.
7. Responsible for managing, motivating, leading and supervising co-workers who report to this position.
8. Responsible to see that co-workers who report to this position receive proper orientation, work assignments and supervision.
9. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, disciplining and evaluating all co-workers.
10. Responsible for ordering, receiving and inventory control and availability of supplies and equipment.
11. Responsible for marketing the Assisted Living Program.
12. Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Degree in marketing or health care administration or 3 years related experience in a retirement community.
2. Possesses management ability including skills in written and verbal communication, good judgment and reasoning and coaching.
3. Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons.
4. Understands management, delegation and motivational concepts.
5. Must have qualities of leadership, initiative and dependability.
6. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist and turn frequently throughout the course of an eight hour shift.
7. Ability to communicate to residents at a level they can understand.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position would include responsibilities of leadership in nursing. Standing and walking distances constantly throughout the campus would be required during the shift in evaluating residents and supporting line staff and respond to emergency needs of the Retirement Community. Ability to lift 30 pounds in assisting co-workers with resident lifts, transfers, etc. several times throughout the shift. Must be able to react quickly and decisively in emergencies and in unexpected behavior of residents.
