Assistant Warehouse Supervisor

Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Supervisor supports daily warehouse operations to ensure efficient workflows, accurate inventory management, strong team productivity, and compliance with company policies and California employment regulations. This role partners closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain a safe, organized, and high-performing environment while coaching frontline associates and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training warehouse associates.
· Develop work schedules, assign daily tasks, and ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
· Maintain accurate timekeeping records and resolve timecard discrepancies in compliance with California wage-and-hour laws.
· Monitor productivity and provide coaching, feedback, and performance support.
· Support performance reviews, documentation, and corrective action processes.
· Help build and sustain a strong, accountable frontline leadership culture
· Support daily warehouse operations to ensure orders ship on time with minimal errors, damages, or inventory discrepancies.
· Track and analyze associate, departmental, and warehouse performance metrics.
· Conduct root-cause analysis of operational issues and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
· Maintain working knowledge of warehouse systems (WMS, ERP, and related tools) and assist with implementation of new technologies.
· Ensure adherence to company policies, OSHA standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
· Promote and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
· Support enforcement of safety procedures and documentation of incidents or policy violations.
· Monitor warehouse equipment and facility conditions and coordinate maintenance as needed.
· Assist in developing, documenting, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Perform hands-on warehouse duties as needed to support workflow continuity.
· Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the role.
Qualifications
Required
· At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
· At least 1 year of inventory control in warehouse operations.
· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer systems.
· Experience working with a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Preferred
· Experience with ERP systems.
· Knowledge of California wage-and-hour, safety, and workplace compliance requirements.
· Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and process-improvement skills.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
· Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, equipment noise, and moving machinery
