Position Summary and Successor Mandate

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Global Tax, is a high-visibility executive role architected as the primary successor to the Vice President of Tax. This position serves as a critical bridge between technical tax mastery and strategic enterprise management as a leader in the Global Tax Team that supports the CFO in navigating the fiscal complexities for the global leader in flavor as it manufactures, markets and distributes spices, seasoning mixes, condiments, and other flavorful products to the entire food industry across 170 countries.

The AVP is responsible for the operational excellence of the global tax function while transitioning into a strategic business partner capable of influencing the companys long-term global growth and risk mitigation strategies.

Global Leadership and Team Development

A primary mandate for the AVP is the cultivation and transformation of the global tax talent pipeline. This role requires sophisticated leadership to ensure the department remains a "value-add" partner to the wider organization as McCormick grows and transforms.

• Mentor and Lead: Manage, coach, and develop, directly and indirectly, a diverse team of tax professionals. • Talent Strategy: Develop tax team members and ensure a robust succession plan is in place within the department and providing opportunities for future career growth. • Culture and Engagement: Foster a high-performing culture that aligns with "Purpose-led Performance" principles, maximizing employee engagement and fostering an environment of technical excellence and continuous learning. • Digital Transformation: Lead the tax departments digital evolution, leveraging automation, AI, and advanced data analytics to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency. • Cross-Functional Partnership: Build and maintain effective working relationships across the organization-including each of two business segments Consumer & Flavor Solutions, and all globally functions including Finance, Global Business Services, Legal, Supply Chain, and HR-to integrate tax considerations into global business strategies.

Strategic Tax Operations

Global Planning: Support the design and execution of global tax strategies that align with McCormick's strategies for growth, performance and people and adhere to its Global Tax Policy.

Global Tax Provision: Serve as the lead architect for the quarterly and annual ASC 740 process, ensuring the integrity of financial statement disclosures and maintaining a world-class SOX control environment.

Global Tax Compliance - Support the US federal income compliance process with the Senior Director, the EMEA Tax Compliance process with the EMEA Tax Director and lead Asia Pacific and US state tax compliance.

Controversy Management: support the defense in global tax audits and inspections, prioritizing integrity and transparency in all interactions with the IRS and international tax authorities.

Public Policy and Legislative Support

The AVP serves in a pivotal supporting capacity to the Vice President of Tax regarding the company's tax advocacy agenda. While the VP leads global policy and government affairs, the AVP provides the technical foundation and legislative monitoring required to influence the policy landscape.

Technical Advocacy Support: Provide the Vice President with complex tax analysis to inform business decisions and support the companys position before legislative and regulatory bodies.

Legislative Monitoring: Actively track emerging federal and state tax developments (e.g., OECD Pillar Two, federal tax reform) to identify risks and opportunities for the enterprise.

Trade Association Engagement: Support the companys involvement in influential groups such as the Business Roundtable, the National Foreign Trade Council, Financial Executive's International Committee on Taxation and the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and other similar organizations, participating in committees to help drive the company's agenda.

Regional Advocacy: Support the VP in state-level efforts in Annapolis, opposing disadvantageous policies like mandatory unitary combined reporting to protect the Maryland business climate.

Qualifications and Executive Competencies

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance, preferred; CPA or JD mandatory; Master's in Taxation (MST) or LL.M. highly preferred.

Experience: 15-20 years of progressive tax experience in a large global multinational or premier professional services firm.

Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in US international tax, transfer pricing, ASC 740, and the OECD BEPS framework.

Leadership Presence: Proven ability to lead complex global teams and communicate sophisticated tax issues to non-tax executive leadership and the Board.
