Viterbo University invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President of Enrollment, a full-time, 12-month, exempt leadership position responsible for advancing undergraduate, graduate, and international enrollment while championing student success and institutional growth.
The Assistant Vice President of Enrollment serves as a key leader in shaping the future of the University by developing and executing innovative enrollment strategies that attract, enroll, and retain students. This individual will articulate and amplify the Viterbo story, our mission, academic excellence, Franciscan values, and transformative student experience, to prospective students and families while fostering meaningful relationships across campus and beyond.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and visionary leader who is passionate about higher education, student-centered enrollment practices, and data-informed decision making. Working closely with campus partners, the AVP will support Viterbo's RISE strategic plan by strengthening recruitment and retention efforts, promoting institutional sustainability, and ensuring an exceptional student experience from first inquiry through graduation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enrollment Strategy and Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, innovative, data‑informed enrollment strategy for undergraduate, adult learning, and graduate programs.
- Advance sustainable enrollment growth while meeting net tuition revenue and student headcount goals.
- Translate institutional mission, academic strengths, and student outcomes into compelling enrollment strategies that resonate with prospective students and families.
- Identify enrollment trends, market opportunities, and challenges, and recommend innovative approaches to recruitment and program growth.
Storytelling and Institutional Representation
- Serve as a key steward of Viterbo's story, ensuring consistent, authentic messaging across recruitment efforts.
- Guide enrollment communications that clearly articulate the value of a Viterbo education, including academic excellence, community, belonging, and student success.
- Inspire prospective students, families, partners, and external stakeholders.
- Drive and aggressively expand relationships with key pipeline partners, including two-year colleges, diocesan partners, and high school pathway programs.
Collaboration and Campus Partnerships
- Lead enrollment efforts with campus partners, including but not limited to, academic affairs, marketing and communications, athletics, campus ministry, student life, and diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Vision with faculty and academic leaders to support program vitality, enrollment planning, and new program development.
- Foster strong cross‑campus relationships to ensure a seamless and student‑centered enrollment experience.
Recruitment, Retention, and Student Success
- Lead efforts to attract and enroll key student populations.
- Motivate and empower the team to exceed targets through clear goal setting, high-impact strategies, and innovative, results-driven promotions.
- Lead efforts to create an enrollment communications strategy.
- Support strategies that improve student yield, retention, and persistence in collaboration with campus partners.
- Ensure enrollment practices reflect Viterbo's commitment to access, inclusion, and holistic student support.
Data, Assessment, and Resource Management
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators to assess enrollment effectiveness and outcomes.
- Use data and analytics to inform enrollment planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership for effective management of enrollment‑related budgets, personnel, and resources.
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide values-based leadership grounded in Viterbo's Catholic, Franciscan mission and core values of contemplation, hospitality, integrity, stewardship, and service.
- Lead, mentor, and support a high performing enrollment team through clear expectations, coaching, professional development, and accountability, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
- Ensure team members understand how their work advances Viterbo's mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to access, belonging, and student success.
- Perform other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the position and in support of the University's mission and strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business administration, or a related field is required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience
- Progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education enrollment management or a closely related area.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience.
- Demonstrated success in recruitment, enrollment strategy, marketing, or student engagement initiatives.
