American Heritage Credit Union, a $5+ billion credit union, has an immediate opening for a Assistant Vice President of Asset Recovery.

This position will oversee the operation and administration of the Asset Recovery Department and staff and ensure adherence to collection policies/procedures and state/federal laws and regulations. Ensure that the Asset Recovery staff is providing an ultimate level of service to the members, employees, and clients of American Heritage Credit Union.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Supervise and monitor the collection of all loans and handle non-routine matters that arise.
  • Maintain a highly motivated, well trained staff and evaluate job performance to ensure quality of work and service to members and staff. Meet with staff regularly to review goals and develop and implement effective methods for performing their job duties.
  • Hire, review, schedule, train and monitor the work of direct reports: Conduct performance reviews; allocate resources to meet operational needs within the department.
  • Prepare, implement and supervise the budget for the department, which is consistent with the overall strategic plan and budget of the Credit Union.
  • Provide oversight and support to business and commercial loan delinquencies and default.
  • Manage third party relationships to support loss prevention and asset recovery.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Assign accounts to Member Solutions Representatives to perform follow-up duties.
  • Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers; Execute collateral repossessions when arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  • Establish and maintain effective collection procedures on loan accounts that are potentially delinquent and charge them to the reserve with board approval.
  • Review accounts assigned to Member Solutions Representative where action beyond routine collection procedures must be approved.
  • Handle all bankruptcies and related actions and documentation.
  • Handle all delinquent mortgage accounts by phone and mail until foreclosure is required; Take appropriate action to bring accounts current.
  • Review all billings from attorneys retained for collection work.
  • Testify at legal proceedings as required.
  • Provide delinquency reports to senior management.
  • Review all accounts that are to be written off as non-collectible and prepare report for CLO.
  • Modify loans as approved and process extensions.
  • Repossess homes and vehicles; arrange the sale of repossessed collateral; determine additional investment to be made in collateral.
  • Attend monthly delinquency meetings.
  • Develop, apply, and evaluate policies and procedures for the department.
  • Hold periodic staff meetings to discuss areas needing improvement, changes in procedures, new developments or services, and to present general information.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for supervising staff, projecting a positive image as representative for the Credit Union, and servicing Credit Union members, Board members, staff, and clients.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills and the ability to speak effectively to groups of people.
  • Excellent phone skills and negotiating skills required.
  • Work requires extensive knowledge of Credit Union collection policies and procedures, credit, and underwriting.
  • Knowledge of all applicable collection laws and regulations required.
  • Excellent phone skills and negotiating skills required.
  • Requires judgment to apply broader aspects of established practices to situations, which go beyond clear, concise guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Symitar, Word and Excel required.
