Job Description: Arcadia University seeks an innovative leader to join the Campus Life team to shape how students can flourish as a living, operational commitment. Reporting to the Vice President for Campus Life & Dean of Students, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Student Flourishing, Care & Accountability will lead an integrated portfolio of high-impact and aligned student support functions, including Student Health Services, Counseling Services, Student Conduct & Accountability, and the Care Team. In addition, the AVP will work collaboratively with campus stakeholders, including Student Experience and Student Success, in establishing a student-centered approach that supports student belonging, flourishing, wellbeing, and success. The new AVP, who will serve as the Deputy Chief Conduct Officer, will bring a high level of expertise in systems and processes related to conduct, and also provide leadership of a student accountability approach which will center restorative and developmental practices to enable students to develop the skills to navigate effective decision-making, healthy relationships, and support their ability to flourish.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and manage direct reports: Director, Counseling Services; Director, Student Health Services; and Student Assistance & Accountability Coordinator, ensuring high-quality services are delivered to students.

  • Work with the Vice President for Campus Life & Dean of Students, Assistant Vice President for the Student Experience, direct reports, and campus partners to develop a unified vision and approach that centers well-being, a sense of belonging, and a student''s ability to flourish.

  • Provide leadership and on-going assessment and evaluation of student support services.

  • Provide expertise and managerial oversight to a cross collaborative team of professionals (i.e., AU Care Team) designed to identify and provide support to students who may be experiencing personal, mental health, social, and or academic distress.

  • Work collaboratively with campus partners to manage and apply behavioral intervention and threat assessment responsibilities.

  • Lead the University Conduct Process including serving as a hearing officer, assigning sanctions, on-boarding, training, and oversight of the Judicial Board; serving as the Deputy Chief Conduct Officer.

  • Serve as Maxient manager; ensuring data governance and effective system administration.

  • Collaborate with Office of General Counsel and campus partners to perform annual reviews and update to the Student Handbook.

  • Provide oversight and facilitate campus awareness of University''s Lived Values through such events as the Knight Code of Honor initiative.

  • Coordinate a cross functional team to advance the University''s belonging and flourishing efforts, serving as a key partner in advancing and supporting strategies, policies, initiatives, and programs that support all students.

  • Provides strategic leadership and vision for an integrated student well being enterprise, setting institutional direction for service delivery models, resource allocation, and long-range planning.

  • Build and sustain high-performing clinical and administrative teams by establishing clear accountability structures, fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and laws.

  • Develop and maintain intentional collaborative relationships to promote teamwork and advance the priorities of the Division and the University''s Strategic Plan (Arcadia2030).

  • Serve as divisional liaison to key partners in Academic Affairs and Athletics, aligning support and resources with institutional retention efforts.

  • Serve as a core member of the Campus Life Leadership Team; provide counsel on matters related to the health and well-being of students and the campus community to institutional leadership.

  • Effectively manage resources / budget associated with your team''s work and supplement departmental resources through grants and other revenue opportunities, where possible.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The minimum educational qualifications include a master''s degree in health science field, counseling, wellness, student affairs administration, higher education, or an appropriately related field. A terminal degree in a related field is preferred.

Professional Background & Experience

  • At least eight (8) years of relevant progressive leadership and a track record of success in management and supervision of student conduct, counseling, student health and wellness, or a closely related area(s) of higher education; including significant experience hiring, supervising, and evaluating manager/director level staff.

  • Deep experience working with Maxient software, or a similar system capturing student-centered information.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic objectives, motivate and develop staff, effectively manage resources, and cultivate strong collaborative relationships with multiple constituent groups.

  • Experience in dealing with crisis management and emergency response.

  • Evidence of innovation through partnerships, projects, programs, and initiatives.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential.

  • Experience in making data-informed decisions, as well as applying program assessment and evaluation practices toward program improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD, EdD, and or terminal degree.

  • Knowledge of restorative justice models and their application to student conduct, conflict resolution, and community standards.

  • Expertise in relevant regulations and best practices related to FERPA, Title IX, threat assessment, and higher education compliance.

  • Experience with managing and or providing oversight to behavioral intervention and Care teams.

  • Grant writing experience.

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the delivery and nuances of providing student health and counseling services within a higher education setting.

  • Thorough understanding of student conduct practices and their role in promoting accountability, student development, and a safe campus community.

  • Exceptional communication, strategic planning, and ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, both inside and external to the institution.

  • Proven record of success and commitment to working with a globally diverse student body.

  • Ability to assess programs, analyze data, and drive change and innovation.

  • Highest personal and professional integrity.
