Job SummaryThe United States Attorney's Office, District of Hawaii, seeks two experienced attorneys for its Criminal Division. These Assistant United States Attorneys will prosecute a broad spectrum of federal criminal cases, including drug trafficking, violent crime, firearms offenses, fraud, public corruption, financial and tax crimes, and more.ResponsibilitiesProsecute complex federal cases from investigation through trial, sentencing, appeal, and post‑conviction litigation.Partner with law enforcement on investigations, draft and review legal process, manage discovery, litigate detention and suppression matters, and handle restitution and forfeiture.Prepare and argue appeals before the Ninth Circuit and other appellate courts.Manage case load and coordinate with colleagues and support staff.Participate in ongoing professional development and training provided by the Department of Justice.Required QualificationsJ.D. degree (or equivalent) and admission to the bar in the United States.Active membership in any U.S. jurisdiction bar by the entry‑on‑duty date.United States citizenship.Legal experience in federal criminal litigation, including trial or appellate work.Strong writing, communication, interpersonal skills, and mature judgment.Mandatory security clearance and satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication.Preferred QualificationsOutstanding legal ability and high moral character.Experience in federal court and with state or local law enforcement.Demonstrated teamwork and collegial collaboration.Any additional qualifications that strengthen the application.RequirementsMust be a United States citizen or national.Must reside in the district or within 25 miles of it.Must register for Selective Service if applicable.Must undergo and pass background checks, fingerprinting, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.Must meet all qualification requirements before the closing date.Compensation and BenefitsAssistant United States Attorneys receive a base salary ranging from $79,469 to $197,100, adjusted for locality pay.
