To assist the Transportation Manager in providing safe, efficient and economical transportation for the students of the Foxborough Public Schools through the operation of our school bus system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Maintains knowledge of all current School Committee Policies, State laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of a school transportation system. Maintains all current driver files in compliance with all local, State and Federal laws, regulations and requirements for school transportation programs. 2.Act as a substitute driver as needed. 3.Assists Transportation Manager in the development of safe, efficient and economical bus routes. 4.Prepares daily schedules, books and assigns all athletic and extracurricular trips in accordance with seniority requirements as listed in the School Bus Driver Contract. 5.Contact licensed school bus drivers to act as substitutes when regular drivers are unable to drive their assigned trips or routes. 6.Facilitate and track all reports pertaining to accidents or incidents relating to student transportation. 7.Assist with the preparation of the transportation payroll on a bi-weekly basis, as well as invoicing of all billable trips. 8.Assists with compiling and preparing documents for data entry and enters data into various computer software applications and transportation systems. 9.Advises school bus drivers regarding changes in bus routes, trips, transportation laws and regulations, district policies and procedures. 10.Responsible for scheduling in-service meetings for bus drivers, crossing guards and maintaining records of training hours received and needed by driver 11.Provides drivers with current route sheets, maps, and any other items necessary, as needed, for completing their assignments. 12.Operates a two-way radio to dispatch drivers including regular and special education drivers. Assures that all school bus routes have buses and drivers assigned. 13.Ability to communicate with all bus drivers by means of two-way radio, to receive or provide information to help resolve situations such as equipment breakdowns, road hazards, accidents, student locations, route changes or emergencies as well as notifying the schools of these issues. 14.Other duties related to transportation as requested by the Transportation Manager, the School Business Administrator or his/her designee.
