Overview:
Auburn University Athletics is excited to begin the search for an Assistant Supervisor, Athletics Building Services! This individual assists in monitoring and directing custodians and floor care technicians as well as participates in custodial and/or housekeeping activities in Auburn University facilities and buildings.
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., with flexibility required to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as needed to support departmental and event operations. Schedule may be adjusted on a temporary or long-term basis to meet operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with assigning and prioritizing duties to employees; performs audit ensuring buildings and facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.Conducts post-event inspections and assesses third-party vendor cleaning performance, providing feedback to ensure adherence to established standards and expectations.
- Assists with creating, maintaining, and verifying employee work schedules and hours worked. Updates work schedules as needed daily.
- Monitors work areas to ensure proper cleaning methods, materials, and equipment are being used and maintained.
- Assists with training, coaching, and supervising staff, including providing guidance on daily tasks, monitoring performance, and addressing employee concerns. Supports disciplinary actions in accordance with University policies and procedures.
- Answers questions and complaints concerning performed work within assigned facilities/buildings.
- Assists with overseeing procurement of equipment and supplies and maintaining adequate inventory. Distributes supplies to facilities as needed.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment by performing custodial, floor maintenance, recycling, and housekeeping duties. Serves as a secondary building specialist, supporting facility operations and upkeep.
- Follows recycling program procedures ensuring proper methods are being followed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in custodial care techniques OR
- Associate's degree OR
- Bachelor's degree
Licenses & Certifications:
- Driver license, valid and in state for some positions.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of safe and proper use of chemicals and cleaning materials needed for custodial services.
