Job Description: The Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services generally directs programs and implements policies and procedures for maintenance, transportation, energy/safety management, athletics and food service.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate.

  • Holds a master's degree in educational administration/leadership studies

  • Has a minimum of five years of school administrative experience.

  • Holds a minimum of a master's plus 30 salary classification.

Length of Employment: 261 Days

Responsibilities: The Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services shall have the following responsibilities and duties:

  • To provide purpose and direction for the county.
  • To demonstrate cognitive skills to gather, analyze and synthesize information to reach goals.
  • To manage group behaviors to reach consensus.
  • To enhance the quality of the total county organization.
  • To organize and delegate to accomplish goals.
  • To communicate effectively.
  • To maintain state standards for operation of the county schools' transportation system including, but not limited to, school buses, drivers, and mechanics.
  • To oversee the establishment of school bus routes to ensure compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • To interview, recommend for employment and schedule testing and training for all bus operators.
  • To act as a liaison between the school system and public in matters concerning transportation and canceling or rescheduling school day change.
  • To implement policies, procedures and programs relating to energy/safety management.
  • To implement policies, procedures and programs relating to food service.
  • To implement policies, procedures and programs relating to athletic programs.
  • To implement policies, procedures and programs relating to maintenance including conducting surveys, and letting bids of Board requested improvements/construction.
  • To facilitate maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • To oversee any new building or renovation program.
  • To act as the liaison between the Board and county, state and federal regulatory agencies including;

a. West Virginia Board of Education (School Bus Inspectors, Office of Child Nutrition);

b. County Health Department for building inspections and food services;

c. State and Federal Environmental Protection Agency for asbestos control;

d. State Health Department for drinking water contamination and radon;

e. State Fire Marshall;

f. State Board of Risk and Insurance Management;

g. United States Department of Agriculture;

h. Department of Human Services;

  1. To coordinate summer work programs.

  2. To directly supervise the Service Director of Transportation, Service Director of Food Service, Service Director of E-Rate/Energy Education/Safety Management, Coordinator of Maintenance/Facilities/Building Construction, and Maintenance Supervisor and indirectly supervise the staff that report to these individuals.

  3. To maintain professional work habits.

  4. To maintain and upgrade professional skills.

  5. To perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
