Assistant Storekeeper 1

Job Description

The Assistant Storekeeper I supports materials management and warehouse operations at an operating center, ensuring accurate inventory control and efficient movement of materials. This role focuses on inventory tracking, order processing, materials handling, and shipping and receiving while providing responsive support to internal customers. The position is ideal for someone with warehouse, inventory, logistics, materials management, or supply chain experience who can work safely in an industrial environment and comfortably lift up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and shipping documentation.
• Store materials in designated locations, organizing inventory to promote efficient access, safety, and proper stock rotation.
• Issue materials, tools, and equipment to internal customers and operations personnel in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems and basic computer applications for tracking and documentation.
• Process orders and update inventory levels to reflect receipts, issues, returns, and adjustments in a timely manner.
• Perform regular inventory counts and audits to identify discrepancies and support accurate inventory control.
• Handle materials using forklifts and other material-handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety procedures.
• Prepare and process shipping documentation and coordinate outbound shipments as needed.
• Support internal customers and business partners by responding to material requests, resolving inventory issues, and providing status updates.
• Follow established safety protocols, use required personal protective equipment, and help maintain a clean, orderly, and safe warehouse environment.
• Collaborate with team members in logistics, operations, and materials management to support overall utility operations and project needs.
• Assist with materials logistics activities, including staging, organizing, and tracking materials for construction, maintenance, and other operational work.

Essential Skills

• 0-5 years of experience in a warehouse, inventory, materials management, logistics, or supply chain environment.
• Hands-on experience receiving, storing, issuing, or tracking inventory.
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, data entry, and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping for inventory control and audit readiness.
• Ability to operate safely in a warehouse or storeroom environment, following all safety guidelines and using required PPE.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform frequent standing, walking, and material handling tasks.
• Forklift certification or prior forklift operating experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using SAP, Oracle, Maximo, or other inventory management systems.
• Experience working in utility, manufacturing, industrial, construction, distribution center, or warehouse environments.
• Experience preparing shipping documentation and coordinating shipments.
• Experience supporting customers and internal business partners in an operational or warehouse setting.
• Materials logistics experience, including staging and organizing materials for projects and field operations.
• Familiarity with inventory audits and related inventory control processes.
• Exposure to the utility industry, construction projects, or materials logistics for industrial operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse and storeroom environment that supports utility operations. You will spend most of your time receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking materials and inventory while working closely with operations personnel and internal customers. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 75 pounds, and operating material-handling equipment such as forklifts. You will work in an industrial setting where safety is a top priority, and the use of personal protective equipment is required. The work environment combines hands-on warehouse activities with computer-based inventory tracking, requiring comfort with both physical tasks and system work in a fast-paced, safety-focused operation.

This is a Contract position based out of Valdosta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
