The ASM is responsible for overall store direction and leadership in the absence of the Store Manager, manages store conditions, product quality, and inventory, and leads the front‑end and center‑store operations. Direct responsibilities include hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and developing team members, implementing work schedules, and driving sales and gross profit while controlling labor and operating expenses.Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Excellent leadership and team building skills. Manages all front‑end store operations, oversees team members to meet or exceed expected service levels, oversees cash management, develops and implements staff shift schedules, and conducts time management training. Has direct oversight of perimeter departments and serves as the final decision maker on store operational issues in the Store Manager's absence.Oversees, evaluates, diagnoses, and resolves inventory issues with vendors and warehouses; independently evaluates out‑of‑stocks and audits product quality to ensure date integrity throughout the store.Supervises, directs, and coaches team members in the performance of their duties; assigns appropriate work duties, completes performance reviews, and provides actionable feedback. Responsible for making and participating in team member advancement and disciplinary decisions.Manages the in‑store training program. Develops and provides subject matter content based on experience and observations to improve team performance and store operations.Provides ongoing developmental opportunities for all team members, including individualized and group training, coaching, and directing work performance with an emphasis on advancement and movement toward store management.Participates in all aspects of recruiting and hiring, including evaluating applicants, conducting interviews, hiring, and overseeing training.
