We're looking for an Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily operations at Wok to Walk. You'll run shifts, work hands-on across stations, support prep and inventory routines, handle cash management tasks, coach the team, and provide Store Manager coverage when needed. This is a working manager role. You need to be able to lead the shift while also jumping onto the wok, counter, expo, prep, or closing tasks as business needs change.
Schedule
- Typically 5 days a week, 35-40 hours
- Shifts include opening, mid, closing, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
- Schedule varies based on business needs and Store Manager coverage
- Weekend and evening availability required
Store Hours: Mon-Thu: 11 AM - 8 PM | Fri-Sat: 10 AM - 9 PM | Sun: 11 AM - 7 PM
Pay: $20-26/hour total ($20 base + $4-6 tips)
Primary Responsibilities
Shift Leadership:
- Lead pre-shift huddles and assign station positions
- Monitor speed of service, ticket times, and order accuracy throughout the shift
- Coach crew members in real time on service, food quality, and professional standards
- Jump onto line positions during rushes to keep service moving
- Complete opening, mid, and closing checklists
- Process refunds, voids, comps, discounts, and 86 lists within manager guidelines
- Resolve escalated guest concerns when you are the senior manager on shift
- Document escalated incidents, waste, variances, and performance issues for the Store Manager
Prep, Inventory, and Ordering:
- Execute daily prep plans using predictive prep system's recommendations
- Perform on-hand counts for perishable items and enter inventory data accurately
- Help maintain proper par levels, prep timing, and waste tracking
- Receive and verify deliveries against invoices
- Ensure proper stock rotation, dating, labeling, and storage
- Flag unusual variances, shortages, damages, or inventory issues to the Store Manager
- Place vendor orders when covering for the Store Manager
Cash Management and Systems:
- Open and close tills according to cash handling procedures
- Count safe balances, prepare deposits, and support weekly banking routines
- Place and verify change orders when assigned
- Use Toast, Jolt, 7shifts, Precitaste, inventory spreadsheets, and vendor portals accurately
- Build or adjust schedules in 7shifts when covering for the Store Manager
- Monitor labor coverage, breaks, and call-outs during assigned shifts
Team Training and Standards:
- Train and certify crew members on station procedures
- Make sure new hires complete required training modules and demonstrate understanding on shift
- Model friendly, warm guest service and hold the team to the same standard
- Enforce uniform, attendance, phone, food safety, and professional conduct standards
- Escalate repeated conduct or performance concerns to the Store Manager
- Help maintain a positive, calm, and guest-focused floor atmosphere during rushes
Secondary Responsibilities
- Complete temperature checks, line checks, and corrective actions in Jolt
- Enforce recipe, portion, sanitation, and allergen control standards
- Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and report issues promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization across front and back of house
- Follow all health department, food safety, and company procedures
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum 1 year shift lead or assistant manager experience in QSR or fast-casual restaurant operations
- Hot line or wok cooking experience preferred
- Proven cash handling, safe count, and deposit experience
- Must obtain SNHD Food Handler certification
- Must obtain ServSafe Manager certification within 60 days
- Comfortable using POS systems, smartphones, tablets, scheduling software, inventory spreadsheets, and vendor ordering systems
- Able to stand for extended periods, work in a high-heat environment, and lift up to 40 lbs
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and calm under pressure
- Strong communication, coaching, and guest recovery skills
