This role includes supervising and training staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and assisting with administrative and management duties. The Assistant Store Manager helps ensure the store operates smoothly and follows company policies and goals. When the Store Manager is absent, this position assumes full responsibility for store operations.Store Operations & Customer ServiceTrain employees on company service standards, products, and proceduresMaintain a welcoming, friendly, and professional store environmentAddress customer needs, questions, and complaints promptly and respectfullyResolve customer issues with honesty and integrityAssist the Customer Service Center (CSC) when neededAct as Store Manager in their absenceStaff Supervision & DevelopmentAssign daily tasks to staff to improve efficiency and reduce customer wait timesSupport employee satisfaction, teamwork, and professional growthHelp resolve staff concerns and recognize strong performanceWork with management to maintain store appearance and product displaysConduct meetings to communicate policies, goals, and updatesEnforce company policies related to safety, conduct, and service standardsCreate employee schedules based on business needs and availabilityEnsure staff receive proper breaks and cover the sales floor when neededSales, Data & Compliance ManagementAssist with daily sales reports, financial records, and timekeepingMaintain customer records, prescriptions, orders, and payments in compliance with privacy lawsEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and safety regulationsAdditional DutiesAssist customers with selecting, ordering, and caring for eyewearTake facial measurements and explain pricing, returns, and warrantiesReceive and verify inventory shipmentsAdjust, fit, and assemble eyeglassesPerform cashier dutiesComplete other tasks as assigned by the Store Manager︎ Required Qualifications & Skills:EducationAssociate degree in Opticianry or some postsecondary education preferredExperienceAt least one year of retail management experience (optical industry preferred)At least one year of experience as an optician in a retail store or optometry officeRequired Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of retail operations and staff managementStrong customer service and sales skillsAbility to train, motivate, and supervise employeesBasic math and computer skillsStrong communication, time management, and problem-solving skillsAbility to handle conflict and make sound decisionsManual dexterity and attention to detailAbility to operate eye exam and optical measuring equipment
