    Purpose

    The Assistant Store Director supports the Store Director in leading all store operations, driving sales and profitability, developing associates, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The Assistant Store Director serves as a key member of the store leadership team and assumes responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Store Director.

    Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development

    • Assist in directing, coaching, and developing department managers and store associates.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, diversity, and inclusion.
    • Provide ongoing performance coaching and feedback to associates and department leaders.
    • Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts.
    • Assist in developing future leaders through training and succession planning initiatives.

    Customer Experience

    • Champion outstanding customer service throughout the store.
    • Address customer concerns and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
    • Ensure all departments maintain high service standards and operational excellence.
    • Support community engagement and customer loyalty initiatives.

    Financial Performance

    • Assist in achieving store sales, profit, labor, and expense goals.
    • Analyze sales trends and operational reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Support execution of action plans that drive business results.
    • Monitor labor utilization, shrink, inventory levels, and controllable expenses.

    Store Operations

    • Supervise daily store operations and ensure execution of company standards.
    • Coordinate activities among departments to achieve operational efficiency.
    • Ensure compliance with merchandising, replenishment, pricing, and promotional programs.
    • Maintain store appearance, cleanliness, and presentation standards.

    Safety, Compliance & Asset Protection

    • Promote a safe working and shopping environment.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and workplace standards.
    • Support asset protection initiatives and shrink reduction programs.
    • Address operational or compliance concerns in a timely manner.

    Merchandising & Sales Growth

    • Assist with implementation of merchandising plans and seasonal programs.
    • Ensure proper product assortment, freshness, and in-stock conditions.
    • Support department managers in maximizing sales opportunities.
    • Monitor execution of promotions and display programs.

    Acting Store Director Responsibilities

    • Assume overall responsibility for store operations during the absence of the Store Director.
    • Make operational decisions to ensure continuity of business operations.
    • Serve as the primary leadership contact for associates, customers, and external partners when acting in the Store Director role.
