    Purpose

    The Assistant Store Director supports the Store Director in leading all aspects of store operations. This role helps drive sales, service, operational excellence, food safety, inventory control, and team development while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and employees. The ASD serves as a key member of the store leadership team and assumes responsibility for store operations in the absence of the Store Director.

    Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development

    • Assist in leading and developing department managers, supervisors, and store employees.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and customer service excellence.
    • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management activities.
    • Provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities to team members.
    • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and inclusion.

    Store Operations

    • Support the day-to-day operation of the store to achieve sales, labor, and productivity goals.
    • Ensure company policies, procedures, and operational standards are consistently followed.
    • Monitor store conditions to maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety.
    • Coordinate store activities and resources to ensure efficient operations.
    • Act as Manager-on-Duty when assigned.

    Customer Service

    • Champion exceptional customer service throughout the store.
    • Resolve customer concerns and escalations professionally and promptly.
    • Ensure employees engage customers in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.
    • Support initiatives designed to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty.

    Financial Performance

    • Assist in achieving sales, gross profit, labor, and expense objectives.
    • Monitor key performance indicators and take corrective action when necessary.
    • Support execution of merchandising programs, promotions, and seasonal events.
    • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

    Inventory & Merchandising

    • Ensure inventory accuracy through proper receiving, stocking, rotation, and shrink control practices.
    • Support maintenance of in-stock conditions and effective merchandising standards.
    • Monitor product quality, freshness, and presentation throughout the store.
    • Work with department leaders to maximize sales opportunities and reduce waste.

    Safety, Compliance & Food Safety

    • Ensure compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Support food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety programs.
    • Maintain awareness of OSHA, health department, and food safety standards.
    • Address safety concerns promptly and promote a safe work environment.

    Store Leadership

    • Serve as a role model for company values and professional behavior.
    • Participate in store planning, goal setting, and execution of company initiatives.
    • Assist with scheduling and labor management.
    • Assume full responsibility for store operations during the Store Director''s absence.
