    Position Summary

    The Assistant Starbucks Manager supports the Starbucks Manager in overseeing daily café operations, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining brand standards, and driving sales and profitability. This position assists with partner (associate) development, inventory management, food safety compliance, merchandising, and operational execution while helping create a welcoming environment that provides a consistent and high-quality customer experience.

    Key Responsibilities Café Operations

    • Assist in managing the daily operations of the Starbucks department.
    • Support execution of beverage, food, and customer service standards.
    • Ensure products are prepared and served according to Starbucks and company operating procedures.
    • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and product rotation.
    • Maintain proper product availability during peak and non-peak business periods.
    • Help ensure efficient workflow and service execution throughout the day.

    Customer Service

    • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a welcoming café environment.
    • Build customer relationships through positive interactions and product knowledge.
    • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Support customer engagement initiatives and promotional programs.
    • Ensure all customers receive consistent, friendly, and efficient service.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Assist with training, coaching, and developing Starbucks associates.
    • Provide daily direction and support to café team members.
    • Help maintain staffing coverage that supports operational needs.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, inclusion, and respect.
    • Conduct performance coaching and provide recognition for strong performance.
    • Serve as acting department leader in the Starbucks Manager''s absence.

    Food Safety & Quality Assurance

    • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health, and company standards.
    • Monitor food and beverage quality to ensure consistency and freshness.
    • Ensure equipment cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation requirements are completed.
    • Maintain accurate temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and operational records.
    • Promote safe work practices and a clean working environment.

    Sales & Merchandising

    • Assist with implementing sales-building programs and promotional initiatives.
    • Maintain attractive and fully stocked merchandise displays.
    • Ensure pricing, signage, and promotional materials are accurate and current.
    • Identify opportunities to improve sales and customer satisfaction.
    • Support seasonal product launches and marketing programs.

    Financial Performance

    • Assist with labor management, productivity monitoring, and scheduling.
    • Help control operating expenses, waste, and inventory shrink.
    • Support achievement of sales, profit, and customer service goals.
    • Monitor inventory accuracy and ordering practices.
    • Assist in analyzing business trends and operational opportunities.

    Qualifications Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Previous customer service, retail, food service, or Starbucks experience.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
    • Basic understanding of food preparation, inventory management, and merchandising.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Preferred

    • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
    • Experience in a Starbucks, coffee shop, café, restaurant, or retail environment.
    • Knowledge of labor scheduling, inventory control, and financial performance metrics.
    • Food safety certification or ability to obtain certification.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
    • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 40 pounds.
    • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
    • Ability to safely operate food service and beverage equipment.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent customer interaction.
