    The Assistant Market Manager plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of field marketing programs across Southern California. Working closely with the SoCal Market Manager, this position supports national and ad hoc brand activations through staffing, logistics, client communication, planning and event execution.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Support

    ·      Provide day-to-day support on national and ad hoc sampling programs, helping ensure all activations align with agency and brand standards, legal compliance, and program goals. Support includes coordination with staffing, scheduling, logistics, client communications, and activation oversight.

    ·      Remain available to troubleshoot event needs and support promotional staff throughout activations utilizing the Manager On Duty phone line.

    Staffing & Training

    ·      Recruit, onboard, schedule and develop promotional staff across Southern California. Assist with all SoCal staff scheduling, communications, and ensure all team members are equipped with the necessary tools, training, and materials ahead of each activation.

    Logistics, Inventory & Quality Control

    ·      Assist with planning and coordination of event logistics.

    ·      Complete spot checks and provide on-site event support as needed.

    ·      Independently identify discrepancies, operational risks, or missing information before event execution.

    Administrative & Operational Support

    ·      Support payroll processing, expense reconciliation, reporting, event recap review and verification.

    ·      Utilize tools such as Microsoft Teams, Benchmark, Sortly, Monday.com, Excel, Outlook and event trackers to manage operations efficiently and keep documentation accurate and up to date.

    ·      Manage the Southern California Pavilions sampling program from initial account outreach and event booking through staffing, logistics, execution, reporting, and ongoing account support.

    ·      Contribute recommendations that improve workflows, simplify processes, and enhance operational effectiveness.

     

    What You Bring to the Table

    ·      High School Diploma or GED is required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    ·      Prior experience in event management, field marketing, project coordination or a related industry

    ·      Experience in recruiting, staffing, training, or managing field teams is strongly preferred

    ·      Strong communication and on-site problem-solving skills

    ·      Ability to prioritize and juggle many tasks

    ·      Excellent organizational skills

    ·      Knowledge of wine and spirits industry is a plus

    ·      Trade contacts are a plus

    ·      Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong leadership skills

    ·      Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook 

    ·      Reliable transportation is a must

    ·      Able to lift and /transport event kits/boxes weighing up to 35 lbs.

    ·      San Diego or Orange County area resident required, but will have SoCal coverage

    ·      Ability to travel (in-market) up to 70% of the time

    ·      Ability to work evenings and weekends depending on event schedules

    ·      Must comply with all state and federal regulations, including training requirements related to alcohol sampling
