Position Summary:
The Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Department of Cardiovascular Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Scientist with a strong background in cardiovascular, molecular, and cellular biology. The incumbent will support ongoing research focused on vascular remodeling and inflammation through the performance of laboratory experiments involving mouse models, molecular biology, and cellular biology techniques. Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory records and regulatory documentation, assisting with grant preparation, maintaining laboratory inventories and research materials, and supporting the Principal Investigator in advancing research objectives.

Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's in Biology or related field and three years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
* Demonstrated extensive experience in mouse line maintenance, including breeding, genotyping, and recordkeeping.
* Demonstrated experience in live animal surgical models of cardiovascular diseases.
* Excellent technical and analytical skills in analyzing pathological animal and human samples.
* Demonstrated ability for precise record-keeping.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
* Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
* Experience with molecular cloning, PCR, mammalian cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot analysis.
* Experience assisting with grant preparation and laboratory regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties:
* Perform experiments involving mouse, cell, and molecular biology techniques.
* Generate and characterize diseased animal models using genetically modified mouse lines.
* Conduct pathological sample collection and examination.
* Perform RNA/DNA purification, molecular cloning, PCR, mammalian cell culture, protein extraction, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot analysis.
* Maintain laboratory stocks including mouse lines, plasmids, bacterial stocks, antibodies, and related materials.
* Maintain laboratory regulatory documentation and accurate experimental records.
* Assist with preparation of grant materials and research documentation.
* Analyze pathological animal and human samples using established laboratory methods.
* Work collaboratively with laboratory personnel and independently on assigned projects
* Performs other duties as assigned.
