Charles County Government is seeking an experienced Assistant Scale House Manager to represent, inspire, and empower a team of Weigh Clerks by encouraging them to offer ideas about decisions that affect them, and guides team members to improve workplace functionality and productivity. Assistant Manager will assist the Scale House Manager with the daily operation of the scale house. This position will assume and perform the Scale House Manager's duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Scale House Manager.
This position also performs customer service and clerical work at the County landfill. The work involves determining the weight and nature of waste brought to the landfill and enforcing landfill regulations.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education and Experience:
Associate degree in Accounting, Business Management, or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible management and administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Experience with Paradigm Software is preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid Drivers License.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
Maintain confidential information.
Weekend work is required.
May be called back in emergencies.
Work is subject to frequent interruptions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require employees to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs; bend and crouch; reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Principal duties for this job are performed in a general office environment and landfill surroundings. The employee is constrained to the work site while on duty.

The hiring salary range for this position is $59,172.65 - $77,516.18 annually, commensurate with experience. Salary will be determined for the selected candidate based on related experience and other factors. Internal candidates selected for this position will receive a salary according to the county's promotional pay increase policy.
