The Assistant Sanitation Manager will work with and report to the Sanitation Manager. Assistant Manager is responsible for working with and directing a staff of 10-13 team members in the cleaning of a large-scale bakery production facility. Assistant Managers must build upon established employee or customer relationships and develop your team. Maintaining or improving cleanliness through inspections, training, and employee accountability. Establish and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment emphasizing employee involvement, pro-active communication, inter-departmental cooperation, and continual improvement on all levels.

Assistant Manager must be a problem-solver able to lead a diverse team. Must be able to assign work and follow up. Organize employees and work tasks to meet time or budget requirements. Assistant Manager will as needed work with and alongside staff to clean and sanitize facility and bakery equipment. Keen attention to detail is required.

Job Responsibilities

Essential tasks and responsibilities:

  • Learn, and understand all aspects of the sanitation program.
  • Run/Direct Sanitation crew activities
  • Able to operate web-based programs.
  • Able to use create and report in excel, power point and word.
  • Complete the Master Sanitation Schedule and maintain SSOP's for all equipment cleaning processes.
  • Inspect equipment after cleaning to ensure completion. Direct recleaning of equipment when necessary.
  • Distribute and monitor use of safety equipment, and sanitation equipment.
  • Ensure all employees always adhere to safety policies and procedures. Conduct training and retraining as necessary. Follow required training matrix.
  • Ensure that all employees receive detailed orientation, skills and safety training, appropriate materials and information, regular evaluations, and pro-active coaching to support their continued development.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state/local and federal regulatory authority.
  • Take the lead in the absence of the Sanitation Manager.
  • Conduct daily inspections of quality and food safety. Make necessary corrections or assign and verify.
  • Ensure all projects, maintenance, or cleaning challenges are communicated effectively for resolution.
  • Ensure that all department or corporate policies and procedures are communicated, understood, and adhered to.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling greater than 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to follow and basic safety procedures and precautions
  • Clean inside bulk flour tanks and silos, inside and outside of mixers
  • Must be able to climb vertical ladders to 25; Work off 8'-12'ladders; and sometimes work in a scissor lift up to 25' above ground level
  • Must climb and crawl on or under equipment to clean

Will often use Foamers, Pressure washers, Dry Ice machines, Dry Steam machines, and auto scrubbers

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, AA preferred
  • 3 years' experience supervising and training of at least 10 hourly team members. Knowledge of food safety guidelines for a food processing setting preferred. Must have demonstrated an ability to supervise a team of individuals to accomplish daily goals.
  • Organizational skills: Must be able to communicate effectively with both written and verbal skills and must be able to follow instruction.
  • Time management skills: Must be effective at prioritizing and assigning tasks and following up.
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, stoop and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft office and related programs to enter data. As necessary to log completed work orders, training schedules, work schedules etc.
