Works with the Safety Manager to maintain an effective Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining a variety of environmental, health, and safety programs to assure a safe work environment for our employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and conducting effective safety training to all employees and new hires.
Manage contractor approvals for Lexington.
Oversee safety training programs including recordkeeping for Lexington.
Ensure all elements of Process Safety Management program are implemented and maintained.
Evaluate all injuries and recommend transport and treatment for injury. Transport any injured employee as needed to medical facility. Assist in developing modified work duties for injured employees.
Investigate accidents and incidents. Determine causes and take appropriate follow up actions with tracking of recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
Responsible for compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting all accidents with the proper paperwork to corporate worker's compensation claim administrator.
Regularly review and maintain all Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's) and site-specific policies as needed.
Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of policies, procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
Ensure maintenance of safety documentation as it relates to work permits, JSA's, and regulatory/procedural reporting requirements.
Maintain an emergency action plan and train for the event of a disaster (tornado and fire drills). In the event of a disaster, assist in the evaluation of damage and possible loss.
Use engineering, administrative, and training controls for risk management and accident reduction.
Assist in purchasing and controlling the costs of safety equipment purchases, medical supplies, and personal protective equipment. Relay expenditure needs to the Safety manager.
Ensure that employees have the necessary tools and safety equipment to do their job safely and effectively.
Maintain necessary First Responders, First Aid and CPR certifications and AED program.
Oversee the safety committee and report meeting minutes, recommendations, and actions to management.
Maintain records of plant near misses, first aids, injuries, accidents and OSHA log.
Assist as needed in scheduling pre-placement physicals, capacity profile, and assist in pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screens.
Promote a pro-active culture of safety within the organization through safety committee meetings and addressing employee concerns.
Supply safety data with completion of safety reports to management team.
Assist the Safety Manager in EHS compliance tasks as needed.
