Description

Job Title: Construction Project Manager / Assistant Project ManagerJob Description

This role leads and supports complex construction projects in commercial, clean room, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, healthcare, and manufacturing environments. You manage projects from initial purchase order through final delivery, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards. You work closely with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors while using modern construction management tools to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of construction projects from initiation to completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Manage the full implementation process from takeover of work preparation through final delivery and handover.
  • Develop, manage, and track project budgets, ensuring accurate financial monitoring and settlement of projects.
  • Create, maintain, and update detailed project schedules with a strong emphasis on scheduling accuracy and adherence.
  • Coordinate and supervise a medium-sized project team and subcontractors, providing operational management to the entire execution team.
  • Plan and coordinate work activities so that all tasks are executed according to defined quality criteria and project specifications.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the construction process to manage expectations and address project needs.
  • Lead project meetings and facilitate effective communication among clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, company standards, and industry best practices on all project sites.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Implement risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks and issues.
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and process change orders, RFIs, submittals, and take-offs, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
  • Use project management software such as MS Project, Procore, and Sage to plan, track, and report on project performance.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders, including progress, risks, budget, and schedule updates.
  • Supervise and support executive staff, ensuring they are qualified and prepared to perform their work, including conducting toolbox or similar meetings.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, typically ranging from approximately $500,000 to $20 million, with a focus on projects in the $3-5 million range.
  • Deliver projects across various scopes including ground-up construction, office fit-outs, and renovations.
  • Promote and maintain a collaborative, positive work environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Support training and development efforts within the project team to build capabilities and prepare staff for growth opportunities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on commercial, clean room, pharmaceutical, or semiconductor projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects, including clean room and high-end technical environments.
  • Experience delivering projects in healthcare and/or manufacturing, clean rooms, and biopharma settings.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from purchase order through completion and closeout.
  • Extensive experience with project scheduling and maintaining detailed construction schedules.
  • Hands-on experience with change orders, RFIs, submittals, and quantity take-offs.
  • Proficiency with project management and construction software, including MS Project, Procore, and Sage.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising field and project execution staff.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and the ability to enforce safety protocols on job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PMP certification or similar project management credential is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and familiarity with LEED principles is a plus.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for document review, markup, and coordination is beneficial.
  • Background in working with general contractors and complex project teams.
  • Experience with projects for high-tech and semiconductor clients is advantageous.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development and participation in training programs.
  • Ability to contribute to a growing organization with a long pipeline of work and evolving processes.

Work Environment

This role supports projects primarily located in Connecticut, including Fairfield, Hartford, and New Haven counties, with an additional project in Poughkeepsie, New York. Typical working hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with time split between the company headquarters in Brookfield and various job sites. You will work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including ground-up builds, office fit-outs, renovations, and a high proportion of clean room projects (approximately 75% of the workload). Project values generally range from about $500,000 to $20 million, with a concentration in the $3-5 million range. The environment emphasizes safety, training, and development, with strong support for staff growth and clear opportunities for career advancement. You collaborate with a medium-sized project team and multiple subcontractors, using tools such as MS Project, Procore, Sage, and Bluebeam to manage work efficiently. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
