    Position Value Proposition

    As an Assistant Project Coordinator you will be responsible to assist Project Managers and Project Coordinators in managing the flow of technical information between the Schuff Steel Project Management team, customers, and subcontractors and vendors, while developing critical relationships with internal and external clients, through verbal and written communication.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Facilitate detailing RFI process by preparation and submission of formal RFI's to the customer.
    • Facilitates and fulfills project related documentation efforts and duties and as may be required.
    • Distribute and route drawings. Partner with Document Control to avoid delays and maintain logs.
    • Act as a liaison between shop, field, and detailers to resolve fabrication and erection difficulties.
    • Maintains daily communication with Project Coordinators, Project Managers, Sr. Project Manager or Vice President on progress of areas of responsibility.
    • Assists with monitoring project schedules regarding submittals, approvals, and shop fabrication releases. Identify and communicate possible delays or problems to project management team.
    • Assist the Project Management Team in achieving successful project results.
    • Assists with coordinating the detailing efforts of various common subcontractors.
    • This position may require travel to design and coordination meetings, fabrication facilities and job sites.

    Education/Training

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Work Experience

    Preferred but not required, one (1) year related experience in the coordination of structural steel projects.

    Specialized Knowledge

    The following areas of Specialized Knowledge will be learned on the job: Ability to read and interpret shop and design drawings. General understanding and knowledge of basic drafting skills, 3D modeling software/Tekla practices, fabrication and erection standards, standard technical terminology, technical writing skills, common structural steel practices and Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination.

    Software, Technology and Equipment used

    Personal Computer; phone; Computer Software includes: MS Windows, MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook; JMS, Tekla and other internal proprietary systems.

    Work Environment

    Position requires a minimum of forty (40) hours needed to fulfill the daily and weekly obligations required to carry out the functions. Working long days including evenings and weekends may occasionally be required for this position. Position may require out of state air/road travel as needed. A clean driving record will be required due to required road travel. Current and valid driver's license and proof of acceptable insurance is required.

    This position is generally indoors in a climate controlled office. However, visitations to the outdoor plant facilities and/or jobsites may be required. Travel time is up to 25%.
