Summary
AC Transit is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused professional to join our team as an Assistant Program Specialist. This position provides administrative, technical, and programmatic support for customer-facing initiatives such as AC Transit's institutional pass programs that improve access to public transportation throughout the East Bay.
The initial assignment will support the Districts Student Transit Pass Program, collaborating with schools, community partners, students, and District staff to administer a vital transit benefit program to the communities served. Assignments are subject to change based on operational needs, and incumbents may be assigned to support other customer service, community outreach, mobility, or special programs.
The Position: Under general supervision, the position provides administrative and technical support for customer-facing initiatives and institutional pass programs; ensures adherence to AC Transit, state, federal laws, and regulations related to the area of assignment to achieve the highest levels of safety and quality of service delivery, and customer engagement. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents receive training and learn policies and procedures, specific methods, and regulations relevant to the assigned program(s).

Representative Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business or public administration, planning or related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience: One (1) year of recent, verifiable, specialized administrative or program support experience.
Special Requirements: Must be willing to: (1) work outside regular business hours as required and (2) travel between the various District divisions.

Physical Requirements: Must maintain the physical condition necessary to: (1) perform tasks in an office setting operating a personal computer, keyboards, and other peripheral equipment; and work in the field, which requires incumbents to (2) possess physical mobility in order to direct or conduct field studies and attend external meetings and events.

Pension: All AC Transit employees participate in a lifetime defined benefit pension. All employees hired on or after January 1, 2020, may be in the Districts Tier II pension plan covered by the Public Employees Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA).
