Overview:
The Department of Public Health invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Public Health. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, scholarship, service, and student mentorship within MPH and DrPH programs, with a primary emphasis on doctoral education.
Responsibilities:
Teaching
The successful candidate will:
- Teach primarily courses within the Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) program.
- Teach MPH-level courses in Biostatistics and Epidemiology.
- Teach DrPH courses related to:
- Stata and other statistical software applications
- Health services research
- Doctoral research seminars
- Research seminars
- Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of innovative, high-quality instruction that integrates theory, applied public health practice, and quantitative methods.
Curriculum Development
A key responsibility of this position is collaboration with the Department Chair and faculty to:
- Revise and strengthen curricula and course syllabi;
- Support integration of biomedical sciences with public health education;
- Enhance interdisciplinary and practice-oriented learning opportunities within MPH and DrPH programs.
Dissertation Supervision and Student Advising
The successful candidate will:
- Serve as dissertation chair and dissertation committee member for DrPH students;
- Advise and mentor MPH and DrPH students regarding academic progress, research, and professional development;
- Support student success through accessible and engaged faculty mentorship.
Research and Scholarship
The faculty member will:
- Maintain an active program of research and scholarly productivity;
- Pursue peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and other scholarly activities consistent with expectations for a faculty appointment;
- Engage in collaborative and interdisciplinary research initiatives when appropriate.
Service
The successful candidate will participate in:
- Departmental, school, and university service activities;
- Accreditation, assessment, and program development efforts;
- Professional and community service activities related to public health.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Earned PhD, DrPH, MD, or other equivalent doctoral degree in Public Health or a related field;
- Demonstrated expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative methods, health services research, or related areas;
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness or potential for excellence in graduate-level education;
- Ability to mentor and supervise graduate student research and dissertations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in CEPH-accredited MPH and/or DrPH programs;
- Proficiency with Stata, SAS, R, Python, and other statistical software packages;
- Experience with curriculum development and interdisciplinary public health education;
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and collaborative research potential.
