The Basic Engineering Program in the College of Engineering at Wayne State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor (Teaching) position, with an anticipated start date of August 2026.
The position is primarily focused on undergraduate teaching, with opportunities for engagement in pedagogical innovation and scholarship. The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Basic Engineering Program.
The successful candidate will:
Serve as the primary instructor for multiple sections of an entry-level course in applied probability, statistics, and introductory data science for undergraduate engineering students.
Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instructional sessions that reinforce lecture content and emphasize applied learning.
Prepare and evaluate quizzes, examinations, homework assignments, and projects.
Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
Supervise and provide guidance to teaching assistants and graders.
Conduct course assessment and document student learning outcomes in accordance with accreditation requirements.
Collaborate with college leadership and administrative units to support recruitment, retention, and student success initiatives.
Maintain current knowledge of developments in statistics, data science, and engineering education.
