Description

Faculty Scientist Emory University School of Medicine and Grady Memorial Hospital The Department of Surgery of Emory University School of Medicine at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, is actively seeking an exceptional scientific investigator with a background in either health services research or basic science and translational investigation. The individual will ideally have a scientific focus in health care disparities, social determinants of health, trauma informed care and outcomes, the physiology of traumatic injury and/or burns or similar areas of focus. Grady Memorial Hospital is the busiest trauma center in the United States as has one of the most well-established academic burn centers in the southeast. The resources of the School of Medicine and senior collaboration has created a fertile environment for successful research. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to research that compliments the work being performed in other venues within the department and the school of medicine. Collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and additional appointment in the Rollins School of Public Health will be considered and supported for appropriate candidates. A record of Federal or equivalent funding will be viewed favorably but is not a pre-requisite for this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Plan and conduct assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, postdocs, and students. • Identify sources of funding sources, prepare research proposals, and submit funding applications. • Maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results. • Prepare manuscripts for publication in collaboration with faculty, staff, postdocs, and students. • Present research findings at professional meetings. • Perform safety and environmental management for students and staff. • Mentor trainees and junior faculty in grant writing, study design and research methodology • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills Qualifications: + PhD in related technical, scientific, or engineering discipline. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. + Ability to develop manuscripts and deliver presentations. NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
