Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas (UCA) is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor (9-month appointment) to join the School of Nursing. This on-campus role is designed for a doctorally prepared nurse educator who will shape the next generation of nursing professionals. Job Duties and Responsibilities

This tenure track position focuses on teaching, curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, collaboration and mentorship. The faculty member will facilitate student learning, engage in research and scholarship, focus on continuous professional development and provide institutional, professional and community service.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

As a tenure-track faculty, you will translate intricate clinical data into digestible, evidence-based instruction. You will ground your teaching in the current realities of healthcare policy and ethics, ensuring students are equipped to navigate the systemic challenges of modern healthcare.

Required Education and/or Experience

The candidate MUST have: 1) Doctoral degree (PhD in Nursing or DNP from a nationally accredited institution. 2) Current unencumbered RN license. 3) Significant clinical experience in nursing practice. 4) Prior experience teaching nursing students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, with a strong understanding of pedagogical principles and instructional methodologies. Candidates who are ABD or who have 3 or less semesters left to complete the doctoral degree will be considered.

Must have all clinical requirements mandated by the clinical agencies used for student clinical experiences. These requirements include: 1) MMR (2 vaccines or a positive titer), 2) Varicella (2 vaccines at least 28 days apart or positive titer), 3) Hepatitis B (2 part series or positive surface antibodies above 10), 4) Tdap (must be received within the last 10 years), 5) Tb (Initial testing: Interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) or a tuberculin skin test (TST) for persons without documented prior testing, TB disease or latent TB infection (LTBI). Retesting: No annual retest or routine serial testing at any interval after baseline in the absence of a known exposure or ongoing transmission is required), 6) Influenza vaccine (annually); and 7) current CPR certification BLS from American Health Association.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

It is PREFERRED that the candidate has:

1) PhD in Nursing with evidence of research and scholarly productivity. 2) Educational preparation as a nurse educator or experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. 2) Experience with learning management systems and/or online teaching at the baccalaureate or higher degree. 3) Experience with simulation teaching at the baccalaureate level or higher. 4) Candidates with current clinical experience.
