The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Polymer Chemistry to begin August 16, 2026.
The candidate must have a strong background in polymer science with demonstrated potential to address critical research challenges in emerging areas such as energy, water purification, gas separation, responsive materials, and additive manufacturing. The successful candidate's research should complement existing faculty strengths and align with the department's strategic priorities. Biomedical applications may be considered as a secondary or minor research direction. The candidate is expected to establish a vigorous, internationally recognized, externally funded research program as part of the South Carolina SmartState Center in Polymer Nanocomposites. The candidate will teach core courses in organic chemistry and polymer science at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
