  • Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand, with a maximum coverage of $100,000. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage.
  • Medical, Dental, and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date.
  • TIAA Retirement Contributions: Contributions begin based upon the first day of employment at a contribution rate of 10% of base appointment salary, paid in full by ISU.
  • Long Term Disability Coverage: Employees are eligible after three years of continuous regular employment with the University. This policy guarantees approved disabled employees a 66.23% income protection from all sources after 180 days of continuous total disability.
  • Fee Waiver Program: For the employee spouse and dependent children, staff may enroll in up to 18 hours of course work each academic year at a reduced rate. Spouses may enroll in 15 semester hours each academic year with 80% of qualified tuition waived. Dependent children of regular full-time staff who are full-time degree-seeking undergraduate students at ISU may receive a fee waiver of 80% of qualified tuition for up to a total of 10 semesters.
  • Sick Leave: Accrues at a rate of 12 days per academic year with unlimited accumulation.
  • Pay Options: Faculty on academic year appointments have the option of receiving their salary paid in 10 payments (September 1 through June 1) or 12 payments (September 1 through August 1) each year.
  • Optional Benefits: Voluntary Life Insurance, Additional amounts of life insurance may be purchased on employee spouse and dependent children. Voluntary Vision Plan, May enroll within the first 31 days of employment date.

Job Summary:

This is a 12-month tenure-track position. Teach PA classes, participating in didactic and clinical education. The faculty member will join the Didactic Team of faculty responsible for teaching didactic courses. The faculty member is expected to become a lead instructor on a number of didactic courses and contribute as a co-instructor to the courses that involve small group activities and experiential learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Physician Assistant classes, including basic medical science courses such as Gross Anatomy with cadaver lab, Genetics, and participate in didactic and clinical education.
  • Advise students, conducting collaborative research, mentor student research, and engage in program, department, college, university, and professional service.
  • Participate in Mid-Rotation evaluations for students in the clinical year, requiring phone calls to the students and may require after-hours scheduling due to the students clinical work schedule.
  • Engage in student professionalism evaluations at least 2 semesters a year, often done on campus in addition to office hours.
  • Participate in program-sponsored community outreach activities that are scheduled outside of regular class schedules and sometimes after 5 PM.
  • Participate in all college department, program, didactic, clinical advisory council, and admissions meetings as scheduled by members of the college or Physician Assistant Committee (PAC).
  • Participate and possibly be the lead faculty team member for activities that may include and are not limited to website maintenance, program social media management, White Coat Ceremony, grant-related activities, inter-professional events, etc.
  • Participate on the Admissions Team.

Requirements:

  • Applicant is a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited PA program, be certified by the NCCPA, and be eligible for licensure in Indiana.
  • Applicant is a Healthcare Clinician other than a PA, such as an NP, MD, DO, DVM, with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience and must be certified by their accrediting body and eligible for licensure in Indiana.
  • If applicant is a non-clinician applicant, must have a graduate degree, minimum of a Masters in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, or related field, and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in medical science courses.
