Job Description

The Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy is a full-time tenure-track faculty position responsible for contributing to the teaching, research, and service missions of the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training. The faculty member will primarily support delivery of the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum in the areas of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, cardiac and pulmonary systems, pathophysiology, and evidence-based practice. The position supports multi-campus curriculum delivery, scholarly activity consistent with promotion and tenure expectations, and service activities that advance departmental, college, and university goals. This role is critical for maintaining instructional quality, accreditation compliance, and long-term program stability.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Teaching

• Teach assigned didactic and laboratory courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum based on departmental needs and faculty expertise, with emphasis on cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, pathophysiology, clinical exercise physiology, and evidence-based practice. • Deliver instruction using in-person, synchronous, distance, hybrid, or online modalities across campuses. • Advise and mentor DPT students in academic progression, professional development, and research or capstone activities. • Contribute to course development, curricular refinement, and assessment activities to ensure alignment with CAPTE accreditation standards. • Collaborate with faculty across campuses to ensure curricular consistency, integration, and instructional excellence.

Research and Scholarship

• Maintain an active and sustainable program of research and scholarship consistent with tenure-track expectations. • Disseminate scholarly work through peer-reviewed publications and professional presentations. • Pursue internal and external funding opportunities to support scholarly activity. • Involve professional and graduate students in research activities as appropriate. • Contribute to the research mission of the department, College of Health, and the PhD in Rehabilitation and Communication Sciences program.

Service

• Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work and governance activities. • Contribute to professional service at the local, state, national, or international level consistent with academic expertise. • Support student recruitment program development and outreach activities as needed.

Other

• Maintain professional licensure and disciplinary currency. • Work a schedule consistent with university and program needs, including occasional travel between campuses. • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional priorities.
