Description

Tenure track position. The successful applicant is expected to teach 12 hours of courses in mathematics per semester. Courses are dependent on the qualifications and background, but will most likely include upper-level mathematics, such as calculus, discrete mathematics, linear algebra, abstract algebra, and non-Euclidean geometry. Evaluate and revise curriculum and courses for mathematics program. Work with diverse population of students, including non-traditional students. Assist with student recruitment and retention. Assist with writing grant proposals as needed. Assist with departmental and program assessment, this includes national accreditation for mathematics education program. Develop, implement, and engage in professional development activities related to teaching mathematics. Other duties as needed.

Typical Qualifications

(1) PhD or ABD (all but dissertation), or its foreign equiv, in Mathematics or related field. (2) The candidate must have completed 18 graduate credit hours in mathematics from an accredited institution. Retirement Plan: The college matches your 6 percent contribution (tax exempt dollars) towards TIAA/CREF or Teachers Retirement System. Thus, 12 percent of your gross salary is working for your retirement income. New employees must join TIAA/CREF.

TIAA Total Disability Benefits Plan: Optional employees coverage that provides (1) monthly income and (2) payments of premiums to your TIAA/CREF retirement plan to participating employees who suffer total, long-term disabilities. The cost is adjusted according to individual salary on a yearly basis. Employees become eligible upon completion of the first year of employment.
