Position Description Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of English. This is a full-time tenure-track position beginning in the fall of 2026. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to teach a wide range of courses with particular emphasis on first-year writing, English Education, and creative writing. Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching as well as scholarship and/or creative work.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging courses and incorporate experiential learning opportunities into coursework.
  • Advise and monitor students on academic and career development.
  • Supervise student teachers.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, creative work, or professional practice in the field.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth of the department through curriculum development and assessment activities.
  • Participate in departmental, college-wide, and community service activities.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a masters degree in English is required for a renewable lecturer position.
  • Ph.D./Ed.D. is preferred and required for a tenure-track position.
  • ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Previous experience with public school teaching and certification is desirable.
