Position Overview:
St. Thomas University invites applications for a full-time, on-campus Assistant Professor of Education. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate, master's, and doctoral education programs, delivering instruction both face-to-face and online. We seek a dynamic educator committed to teaching excellence, student mentorship, and scholarly engagement who will contribute to the growth and distinction of our education programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a variety of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral courses in education, utilizing both in-person and online modalities.
- Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction using innovative and evidence-based teaching methodologies.
- Advise and mentor students at all program levels regarding academic progress, research, and career development.
- Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and presentations appropriate to rank.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service, including committee work and recruitment efforts.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive learning environment aligned with the mission and values of St. Thomas University.
Qualifications:
- Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in Education or a closely related field from an accredited institution (required).
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college or university level, including experience with both face-to-face and online instruction.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and potential for continued research contributions.
- Experience with student advising and mentorship at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in a teaching-focused institution.
- Professional experience in K-12 or higher education settings.
- Experience with curriculum development and program assessment.
- Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Blackboard).
