POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Professor of Education is a full-time tenure-track faculty member responsible for preparing undergraduate students for effective teaching in elementary education and physical education within a small in-person liberal arts college environment. The position carries a standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester approximately four courses and emphasizes high-quality student-centered instruction in methods courses. In addition to teaching the faculty member actively advises education majors coordinates and supervises physical education practicum and student teaching placements and contributes to the shared governance and academic life of the college through service and committee work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Teach undergraduate courses in elementary education and physical education methods maintaining a 12 credit-hour teaching load each semester • Design and deliver engaging developmentally appropriate and inclusive instruction aligned with state and national teacher education standards • Assess student learning and provide timely constructive feedback • Advise and mentor undergraduate education students on academic progress licensure requirements and career pathways • Coordinate place and supervise students in physical education practicums and student teaching experiences in partnership with K-12 schools • Maintain regular communication with cooperating teachers school administrators and field supervisors • Participate in departmental divisional and college-wide faculty meetings and committees • Contribute to curriculum development program assessment and accreditation-related activities • Engage in professional development scholarship and service consistent with expectations for tenure and promotion • Support the mission of a residential liberal arts college through active campus presence and collaboration with colleagues

EDUCATION

Essential Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university or Masters degree with NBCT

EXPERIENCE

Essential Minimum 5 years in K-12 teaching Desirable Higher Education experience

SALARY RANGE

$48,000 - $52,000 annually

WORK SCHEDULE

Normal workday is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, during the months of August through May. Hours outside the normal workday may be occasionally required.
