Pfeiffer University is currently seeking applicants for a full-time position of Associate Professor of Counseling. Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester, advising students, curriculum/program development, school and university faculty governance, and other related duties as needed. The successful applicant will be able to teach a wide range of courses at the undergraduate level related to counseling, social work, social justice, social policy, and human services. Knowledge and practice experience in both micro and macro settings is ideal.

Core Faculty Expectations

Consistent with CACREP Standards, core faculty expectations include, but are not limited to:

Providing high quality counselor education to matriculated students;

Maintaining active professional counseling identity;

Engaging in counseling-related scholarship, professional development, and service;

Maintaining professional licensure and/or relevant counseling credentials; and

Participating actively in program governance, curriculum development, and student advising and mentoring.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for designation as CACREP Core Counselor Education Faculty under the 2024 CACREP Standards, including:

Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program;

Evidence of professional counselor identity consistent with CACREP standards;

Concentration or specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling;

Professional counseling licensure;

Experience teaching, supervising, or working in clinical mental health counseling settings;

Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment and preparing counselors for ethical and culturally responsive practice;

Experience with online teaching technologies and digital learning platforms; and

Commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring, program service, and participation in CACREP accreditation and assessment activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates with:

Experience in CACREP-accredited programs;

Experience with CACREP accreditation or self-study processes;

Clinical supervision experience;

Experience teaching courses such as counseling techniques, ethics, substance abuse counseling, crisis counseling, assessment, or practicum/internship;

Active scholarship and professional service within counseling organizations; and/or

Experience teaching in synchronous online formats.
