The Department of Biology at Gannon University is accepting applications for a full-time, twelve-month, Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. We seek a dynamic educator to join our existing faculty members in providing high-quality instructional experiences. Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience in human anatomy and physiology and microbiology, and to individuals with experience instructing nursing/health science students.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory biology courses, including human anatomy and physiology and microbiology courses across all three academic semesters (summer, spring, and fall). The individual will be hired as either a tenure-track or teaching-track assistant professor. All faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and service, participate in academic advising, and pursue professional development, Tenure-track faculty teach 24 credit hours per academic year, are assessed for excellence in scholarship, and follow the university's promotion and tenure policies. Teaching-track faculty teach 27 credit hours without the scholarship expectation. They are also eligible for promotion under the university guidelines.

Required Qualifications
Teaching-track candidates must minimally possess an Master's degree in Biology or closely-related field. Tenure-track candidates must either hold a doctoral degree in Biology or closely-related field, or earn one by December 31, 2026.
Candidates must possess effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and an ability to be an effective team member.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in teaching and evidence of teaching effectiveness in higher education are preferred.
Physical Demands
Applicants should possess abilities consistent with the preparation and delivery of lecture and laboratory courses, and working in an academic setting.
