Description
The College of Education and Human Development at Jackson State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research, clinical supervision, and service within an alternate route teacher preparation program.
Examples of Duties
Teach graduate-level courses in the MAT Program in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
Supervise teacher candidates during clinical and internship experiences.
Assess teacher candidates utilizing the state mandated assessment instruments (i.e., TIAI, Professional Dispositions, and the Statewide impact on Student Learning assessment).
Advise and mentor graduate students pursuing teacher licensure and professional advancement.
Maintain an active research and scholarly agenda aligned with educator preparation and teacher development.
Participate in accreditation and assessment activities related to CAEP and state program approval.
Collaborate with school districts, educational agencies, and community partners.
Engage in departmental, college, and university service activities.
Assist with recruitment, retention, and program development initiatives.
Participate in curriculum review and continuous program improvement efforts.
Typical Qualifications
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
Certified/licensed teacher with a minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
Experience supervising clinical practice and teacher internships.
Familiarity with state mandated assessment instruments (i.e., TIAI, Professional Dispositions, and the SOIL Assessment).
Demonstrated ability to teach online and graduate-level courses.
Evidence of scholarly productivity or potential for research and publication (i.e., publication & grant history).
Knowledge of teacher licensure requirements, educator preparation standards, and CAEP standards.
