The Department of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Methodist University invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. The Master of Science program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is online and embedded in the Division of Human Services in the College of Health Sciences and Human Services. The Department of Clinical Mental Health Counseling is seeking an experienced Clinical Placement Coordinator to provide leadership related to practicum and internship placement, skill development, and supervision. This is a non-remote appointment; presence on the Methodist University campus in Fayetteville, North Carolina is required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach core graduate-level coursework in a hybrid format
  • Employ best practices in assessment of student learning and academic program outcomes
  • Develop, plan, and execute strategies to coordinate students' internship/practicum and field experience opportunities across the United States
  • Serve as liaison with students, other educators, staff, and outside community agencies and partners in facilitating program objectives, including but not limited to developing, and facilitating residency workshops, coordinating logistics, site vetting, site supervision, training and other student activities and duties
  • Create and maintain partnerships with mental health organizations
  • Participate in accreditation and program approval standards for clinical mental health counseling, especially as they relate to field experiences and supervision at sites and at the university
  • Engage and collaborate with other educators and staff to identify and solve problems and improve the program
  • Contribute scholarly and professional development efforts in the mental health discipline.
  • Maintain and organize regulatory and compliance documents, reports, and other metrics using electronic media
  • Engage in service to the Clinical Mental Health program, the College of Health Sciences and Human Services, and the university
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the success of the program and division

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD from a CACREP accredited institution in Counselor Education and Supervision
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience
  • Professional identity in the counseling profession
  • Minimum of three years of higher education experience with successful teaching
  • Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Professional Counselor or eligible to seek and gain licensure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with teaching and curriculum development in an online graduate program in clinical mental health counseling
  • Experience utilizing Lumivero Experiential Learning Cloud or similar online platforms for field experience coordination and documentation
  • Leadership experience in program administration
  • Experience with the CACREP accreditation standards and processes
  • Experience supervising master's level clinical mental health counseling students
