JOB SUMMARY:

Provides instruction and supervision for Radiography students across classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning environments. Serves as a professional role model and as a liaison with health care agencies. Coordinates and supports clinical education experiences, delivers course content, and evaluates student progress and performance. Participates in faculty meetings for organizing and providing educational experiences leading to student credentialing and gainful employment in radiology positions. Contributes to student recruitment and retention efforts. Faculty may be assigned to teach at any Indian River State College campus based on program and departmental needs

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Collaborating with faculty and staff to support the college in program development, scheduling, marketing, and delivery of instruction;
• Supervising and mentoring radiography program adjunct faculty;
• Coordinating clinical experiences with area health care agencies;
• Effectively instructing courses in radiography theory, laboratory, and clinical skills related to the curriculum;
• Assisting with the compilation of all documents and completing other requirements of the Radiologic Technology Department, related to college, state, and national accrediting agencies;
• Evaluating student progress through examinations and observations of performance;
• Actively supporting student success through individual counseling and advising;
• Supporting students' professional development through appropriate organizations;
• Participating in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committee activities, and other forms of college service;
• Maintaining an active program of professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs;
• Making recommendations on budgetary, curriculum, and program management matters to the Program Director of Radiology;
• Serving as liaison for the Radiologic Technology Department/Health Science Division and IRSC to the surrounding community;
• Maintain accurate clinical education documents, including records of student performance and competency procedures, and other required program records.
• Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skill requirements for this position:

• Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science from an accredited institution;
• Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work and/or instructional experience in the field as a radiographer;
• Valid registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
• Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising;
• Licensed by the Florida Department of Health as a Certified Radiologic Technologist;
• Requires current knowledge and technical practice of radiography;
• Must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
• Must meet the credentialing requirements outlined in IRSC's credentialing manual
• Weekend and evening work may be required.

The following is preferred:

• Possess ARRT certification in one of the advanced imaging modalities, i.e., CT, MRI;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, and stoop. This position also requires sufficient eyesight to observe patients, manipulate equipment and evaluate procedural results; sufficient hearing to assess patient needs and communicate verbally with students and other health care providers; sufficient verbal and written skills to communicate needs promptly and effectively in English; sufficient gross and fine motor coordination to respond promptly to the patient's needs, manipulate equipment, lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and ensure overall patient safety. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as a copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
