The Assistant Professor in College of Nursing and Allied Health excels in teaching, especially project-based learning and supports student advising, engages in university service, has professional networks and experiences to support a project-based approach to education of professionals, and sustains a program of research and publications. This is a tenure track position in the College of Nursing and Allied Health and will report to Annie Rohan, Supervisor.
A tenure-track appointee must excel in teaching, especially project-based teaching, actively participate in recruitment and advising, engage in university governance and service, bring professional networks and experiences to bear, represent the college at professional events, and sustain a program of research and publication. Teaching load would consist of teaching courses in health studies for FDU-NJ. The appointment is contingent on budgetary approval.
This position carries administrative duties and an appointment as a Track Director, Health Studies/Vancouver as
follows. Appointment as Track Director would include administrative teaching release time. Should the Health Studies program not be approved, the appointment as Track Director would end, with a corresponding end to the administrative release.
Taking leadership in developing Health Studies programming based on the model approved for our New Jersey campuses and building on the existing Health Studies programming in New Jersey.
Developing a successful program proposal for the regulating authorities of British Columbia.
Following government approval of the Health Studies program:
a. Curating the curriculum of the new bachelor's program which is to include engaging indigenous peoples in the development and implementation of the program content. .
b. Staffing courses appropriately in the new program.
c. Surveying the environment of healthcare employers to facilitate employment after graduation.
d. Program evaluation
e. Ensuring that we meet the standards and expectations of the DQAB and any accrediting organizations.
Coordinate faculty development activities; oversee recruitment of qualified faculty; review individual faculty workload, teaching, and service assignments; and develop course schedules.
Assist in student recruitment and retention activities including the resolution of student concerns/issues relating to academic standards, instruction, grades, and program requirements.
Provide timely and ongoing updates to the Dean concerning daily operations and make recommendations to improve effectiveness and quality.
Assist the Dean in the ongoing development and execution of the strategic plan and a continuous quality improvement program.
Performs other duties as assigned and appropriate for the position.
Required Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DMSc, DNP) in healthcare or health-adjacent or a doctoral degree near completion.
A successful track record of teaching at the post-secondary level.
Minimum 5 years' progressive experience in program development and evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
