Job Summary/Basic Functions

The EKU School of Aviation invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin August 6, 2026. Applicants should hold a relevant masters degree from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with an emphasis in an Aviation or Aerospace subject area, with a doctorate in a related field and recent aviation industry experience/flight ratings.

This position serves the Aviation program. It requires excellent written and oral communication skills; commitment to a continuous improvement process and the outcome-based assessment of the programs; and commitment to teaching excellence, service, and scholarship.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Aviation program with a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and institution.

The successful candidate will also maintain an active scholarly agenda; conduct academic advising for professional flight, aerospace management, air traffic management and unmanned aircraft systems students; and participate in service to the department, university, and community.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Serving as faculty advisor for student organizations
  • Developing and fostering aviation industry connections
  • Participating in curriculum implementation, revision, and evaluation
  • Participating in recruitment events

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more of the following qualifications:

  • An aviation-related terminal degree
  • Applicable flight ratings
  • UAS, ATM, management and recent experience in the aviation industry or an aviation academic setting
  • Experience with a University FAR Part 141 Flight Training program

The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
