Job Summary

Salt Lake Community College is located in the Salt Lake Valley, nestled in the beautiful Wasatch Mountains. Therefore, the Architecture department seeks to hire an active and engaged faculty member who combines disciplinary expertise with excellence in teaching and demonstrates a capacity for inclusive, collaborative, and innovative instruction.The selected candidate will work as a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the Architecture department specializing in foundational architecture courses that support Architecture program students. The successful applicant will join a robust department where faculty members are reflective practitioners and knowledgeable instructors in architecture. Faculty members at Salt Lake Community College support students seeking to enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year college or university by developing and maintaining high-quality, industry-standard curricula that provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in future careers.NOTE:Members of the faculty at Salt Lake Community College regularly enjoy the numerous activities that are readily available including: world class skiing, mountain climbing, mountain biking, miles of paved walking and biking trails throughout the vicinity, easy access to parks and lakes, southern Utah's red rock country, and five national parks. In addition, Salt Lake City hosts professional sporting events such as NBA basketball, MLS soccer, Triple A baseball, alpine events, the Salt Lake Marathon, and was host to the 2002 Winter Olympics. Downtown Salt Lake City is also home to a variety of art galleries and theatres, the Utah Symphony, Ballet West, and various local restaurants and brewpubs. The Sundance Film Festival annually draws many thousands of attendees, making Utah one of the centers of the independent film industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Become familiar with and abide by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.Maintain professional etiquette in communication with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.Work closely with department peers and administrators to understand processes and procedures that lead to becoming a successful teacher and contributing member of the academic unit.

Minimum qualifications

NAAB Accredited degree (B-Arch)3 years experience - working under the supervision of a licensed architect
