Position Summary

The Assistant Principal serves as a key member of the school's leadership team, working under the direction of the Assistant Principal to advance a shared vision for high academic achievement, equitable practices, and a positive, inclusive culture. The Assistant Principal supports curriculum and instruction, talent management, student culture, family engagement, and operational systems to ensure a safe, welcoming, and high-performing learning environment for a diverse student population. This role is a replacement position, filling an existing vacancy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Vision & Strategic Support

Collaborate with the Principal to develop and implement the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan aligned with district priorities and student data.

Lead specific school initiatives as assigned, ensuring they are aligned with the overall vision and mission.

Instructional Leadership

Observe, coach, and evaluate educators to ensure high-quality, culturally responsive instruction and effective use of assessment data.

Promote professional learning communities and small learning community models to personalize instruction.

Talent Management

Participate in screening, hiring, onboarding, and mentoring of faculty and staff.

Support the cultivation of a collaborative, growth-oriented professional culture.

School Culture & Climate

Help maintain an inclusive, asset-based environment that affirms the identities of all students, families, and staff.

Support the implementation of restorative and trauma-informed practices to promote student well-being.

Family & Community Engagement

Build and maintain positive relationships with families, community partners, and local agencies to support student learning and wraparound services.

Compliance & Operations

Assist with ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal policies, including safety protocols and special education regulations.

Oversee operational systems such as scheduling, student discipline, and school events.

Data-Driven Improvement

Analyze academic and operational data with the Principal to guide decision-making and continuous improvement.

Other Duties

Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of effective K-8 instructional practices and assessment.

Demonstrated success in urban school settings and serving culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Skill in fostering a positive school culture and addressing student needs through equitable practices.

Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.

Proficiency in educational technology and data systems.

Bilingual proficiency in Spanish highly preferred.

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-bias practices.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Master's degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field (preferred emphasis in supervision/administration).

Licensure: Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal license (All Levels) or eligibility to obtain licensure upon hire.

Experience: Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience and prior leadership or administrative experience.

Other:

Experience engaging multilingual families and working with diverse teams.
