Position Description:
The Assistant Principal provides collaborative, student-centered leadership in partnership with the Principal, staff, students, and families to continuously improve teaching and learning. This role is grounded in the Marysville School District's promise that all students are prepared for their future through inclusive, high-quality learning, strong partnerships, and a foundation of trust.
The Assistant Principal's primary focus is to strengthen daily classroom instruction to ensure high levels of academic growth and achievement for every student. Through coaching, feedback, and data-informed decision-making, the Assistant Principal supports educators in implementing effective, equitable instructional practices.
Working closely with the Principal, the Assistant Principal shares responsibility for leading the overall school program and cultivating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. This includes advancing all components of the instructional system-curriculum, teaching practices, and assessment-while maintaining high expectations, integrity, and accountability. Importantly, this position utilizes state and district data to assess student learning and performance outcomes and to adjust classroom support and instruction accordingly.
The Assistant Principal demonstrates a deep understanding of and prioritizes teaching and learning. Along with the Principal, will actively create the conditions in which educators thrive, and students succeed. This includes fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and shared responsibility for student outcomes.

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of finger and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, and lift to assist a student with personal care. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in this work environment is acceptable and may vary with daily activity, but will remain within acceptable limits.
Evaluation:
The Principal shall be evaluated periodically by the Superintendent and/or members of the Teaching and Learning Executive Team, pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions as aligned to the AWSP Leadership Framework.
