Job Description:
Greenwich Public Schools seeks an Assistant Principal for Riverside Elementary School beginning the 2026-27 school year. Home to approximately 475 students enrolled in Grades K-5, Riverside Elementary School is a neighborhood school fostering academic excellence in a culture and environment supporting student social and emotional growth. Riverside has been consistently identified as a school of distinction.
The Assistant Principal assists the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents. This includes such responsibilities as: leading, directing, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective family, teacher, and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and families; and managing budget items. The Assistant Principal serves as a member of the administrative team to develop and implement the total school program. The Assistant Principal acts in the capacity of the principal during the principals absence from the school.
The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in providing leadership and supervision in administering the educational program of a school in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law.
